Assael Romanelli (B. 1978), MSW, certified family and couple therapist, facilitator and trainer, grew up in Israel and the United States. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife and son.

  1. PHD candidate in the school of social work in Hebrew University in Jerusalem, studying the effects of teaching theatrical improvisation on therapists.

  2. Certified Couple and family therapist from the Israeli Association for Marital and family therapy.

  3. MSW in clinical Social Work (with honors) - specialization in child and adolescence therapy, from Haifa University

• a certified NLP trainer, consultant and Master Practitioner from NLP University in Santa Cruz, USA

• BSC in Behavioral sciences (with honors) Beer-sheva University.

Today he works as an integrative couple & family therapist incorporating Psychodrama and Action Methods, in the public sector and his private clinic in Jerusalem. He also teaches and performs Playback Theater regularly.

  1. Artistic advisor and conductor for Or Chozer Playback Theater Ensemble.

  2. Member of the executive board of the National Association of Playback theater in Israel.

  3. Formerly the Director for five years of the Noam Drachim program, the gap-year program for high school graduates in Israel for Noam UK.

  4. A former JAFI shaliach (emissary) to the UK Masorti Movement in London.

  5. PresenTense Leadership Institute alumni.

  6. In 2007, He founded Potential State, a creative community for the helping professionals in Israel.

Since 2001, he has been working extensively in various social and educational projects in Israel and the world.

For over twelve years he has been teaching and performing extensively in different forms of short and long improvisational styles in theater, dance, and music. He specializes in facilitating dynamic workshops incorporating: Playback Theater, short/long form improvisation styles, Action Methods and Theater of the Oppressed.

Assael is passionate about researching the meeting point between Therapy, Arts and Education, as his belief that all three are intertwined and can benefit from more interaction between them. 

His mission: To connect people to themselves and to each other through Therapy, arts or dynamic workshops. He creates safe spaces where people can explore, express and learn about themselves and others.
